The First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe has commended ZRP Kuyedza Women’s Club for their professionalism in spearheading production of local products.

In a speech read on her behalf by the Minister of Small to Medium Enterprises and Co-operative Development, Cde Sithembiso Nyoni, during the ZRP Kuyedza Women’s Annual Show at Morris Depot recently, Dr Mugabe urged the police wives to exploit Government’s initiatives such as Statutory Instrument 64/2016.

“Given this positive developmental want to urge Kuyedza Women’s Club to exploit the window availed by the Government in particular, the Statutory Instrument 64 of 2016 which promotes the production of local goods,” Dr Mugabe said.

The First Lady who had the opportunity to tour the club’s stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in 2013 and 2014 as well as the International Women’s Day commemoration in 2015 was pleased with the quality of exhibitions. She said these achieved milestones by the women called for continuous support from the organisational structures for their sustainability.

“Considering the tremendous achievements and proven ability and capability demonstrated by Kuyedza Women’s Club, it is imperative that all round support be given to ensure that the progress and impetus is sustained.”

“It has to be said that all the unfolding success story of the club is not only amazing but also an inspirational confirmation of the undoubted fruits of a well-managed entrepreneurial vision,” she said.

Dr Mugabe said such achievements hinged on the country’s national economic blueprint-Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZIMASSET) through women empowerment and employment creation.

“l am happy to note that ZRP Kuyedza Women’s Club has created employment not only for its members but also for their families and general public.

“Such milestones and good work by the ZRP Kuyedza Women’s Club resonate well with our national economic blueprint-Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZIMASSET),”she said.

The first Lady urged the club to continue the good work they are doing and reminded people that Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are important drivers of the economy. She said the club has proven to be a formidable player in the SMEs sector, a possible driver for other such organisations to contend with.

“It is such outstanding achievements that provide other institutions with the inspirational benchmark to emulate”.

Speaking at the same occasion, the club’s President and Commissioner General of Police, Cde, Dr Augustine Chihuri lauded the ZRP Kuyedza Women’s Club team for driving the club to such a commendable magnitude and urged them to remain resolute.

“I urge you to keep up the good work,” he said.

ZRP Kuyedza Women’s Club which is growing from strength has won a number of accolades since their maiden appearance at the national exhibitions in 2013.In 2014 they grabbed their first prize at the SME International Expo and also won a shield in the Hospitality and Tourism Curios/Crafts category.

In 2015 they won two gold medals at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) under clothing, foot wear, textiles and accessories and another under the SMEs exhibition.

This year they received three gold medals and a silver medal at the ZITF.
