Recovery of a motor vehicle, armoured cables, armoured wires and cutting tools

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the recovery of a Nissan Primera motor vehicle, 20mm 3 core armoured cables measuring 60 metres, two knives, a pair of bolt cutter in Murewa that had been stolen by some accused persons at a Netone Substation in Zhombwe, Murewa.
On 22 April 2019, police received information to the effect that some unknown accused persons had cut an industrial armoured cable connecting Zhombwe Netone Substation to Zhombwe Netone Transmission repeater. Police reacted swiftly to the information and laid an ambush. The accused person came at around 0001 hours to collect their loot and sensing danger, they fled into the darkness. Investigations are in progress to apprehend the accused persons.
In a related case, police in Middle Sabi arrested three accused persons for theft of copper cables. Police received a tip-off from an informer and lay off an ambush where they arrested the trio who had a Mazda B1800 loaded with approximately one tonne of cables.
The ZRP would like to warn these criminals that the long arm of the law will always catch up with them. Meanwhile, we applaud members of the public for their support in providing valuables information leading to the arrest and recovery of several properties.
