Mashonaland Central Province lies on the northern part of Zimbabwe sharing common boundaries with Zambia to the north-west and Mozambique to the north-east. The mighty Zambezi River marks the boundary between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Internally, the Province borders with Harare Province to the South, Mashonaland East Province to the East and Mashonaland West Province to the West.
It covers a policing area of 28 347 square kilometres and is demarcated into three  police districts namely Bindura, Guruve and Mt Darwin. There are 19 Duty Uniform Branch stations, four posts, 55 bases, four CID stations, one CID Law and Order station, One Minerals and Border Control Unit Station, five National Traffic Stations and one Professional Updating Centre. The furthest station from the Provincial Headquarters is Kanyemba, which is 345 kilometres away. Basing on the 2012 National Population Census, the Province has a population of 1 139 940.
Farming and mining are the major economic activities in the Province.
