ARREST OF GIFT SABATA FOR MURDER AND ARMED ROBBERY CASES IN BULAWAYO
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Gift Sabata (44) in connection with murder and armed robbery cases which occurred between December 2021 and November 2022 in Bulawayo.
On 19th November 2022, at around 0200 hoursdetectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo and members of the Support Unit Police Special Tactics who had been monitoring the suspect, raided him at his girlfriend’s house in Cowdray Park where he was hiding. Upon arrest, a Rossi Revolver loaded with five (05) rounds was recovered from the suspect. Further investigations by the Police led to the recovery of a Taurus Revolver with six (06) rounds and a Peatra-Beretta Gardone Vt.22 without a magazine at Tshabalala Game Sanctuary, Fourwinds, Bulawayo.

SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS IN BINDURA
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may assist to locate immediate family members or relatives of a boy (approximately 13) and girl (approximately 15), who were found wandering in Bindura Central Business District and are suspected to be victims of human trafficking.
The victims’ origin and nationality is currently unknown. They are suspected to be psychiatric patients who are deaf and dump.
Investigations conducted by the Police so far have established that the victims were ferried by a truck while in the company of an unknown woman, whose body structure is said to be “heavily built”.

THREE NABBED FOR POSSESSION OF LIVE PANGOLINS
The Zimbabwe Republic Police’sCriminal Investigation Department (CID) Chipinge Minerals, Flora and Fauna Unit, has arrested three suspects for unlawful possession of two live pangolins. The three suspects areLovemore Dheya, aged 39 years, not employed, Justice Faya, aged 42 years , employed as a teacher and Pinias Chauke, aged 31 years, a nurse, all of Checheche, Chipinge.
On 4 April 2022, police detectives in Chipinge got wind that the three accused persons were in possession of a live pangolin in Chibuwe which they intended to sell at a business centre in Chipinge.
Acting on the information, police quickly reacted to the call and mounted a roadblock together with the Chipinge Safari crew. They searched all vehicles that passed through the roadblock and they recovered two live pangolins from one of the vehicles leading to the arrest of the three. The pangolins were in a 20 litre container that was stashed in a sack in the boot of the motor vehicle. The three were taken to court and were remanded to 11 April 2022 for trial.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns the public against poaching of wildlife. According to the Parks and Wildlife Act, it is an offence for one to hunt any animal on any land without a permit. Please be warned that, illegal killing and trafficking of any endangered wildlife attracts a mandatory lengthy sentence of nine year jail term.

APPEAL FOR INFORMATION ON BRAVE MASHAWA’S RELATIVES
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may assist the police to identify the relatives of Brave Mashawa (26) who is currently receiving psychiatric treatment at Umzimkulu Psychiatric Hospital in South Africa.
Brave Mashawa’s relatives are being sought by the Police in order to enable the South African authorities to establish contacts or find ways to repatriate Brave Mashawa home.

MURDER CASES IN KADOMA, JAMBEZI, CHIKUTI AND NKAYI
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has recorded a number of murder cases around the country in the last seven days with some being perpetrated by friends and close family members during disputes over petty issues.
On 27th March 2022, a man (25) was fatally assaulted several times on the head with a wooden plank by his two friends after a misunderstanding while drinking beer at Sacred Heart Mission Business Centre, Jambezi. The victim sustained serious injuries and was referred to Victoria Falls Hospital where he was treated and discharged. However, his condition continued to deteriorate resulting in his death on 5th April 2022.
On 29th March 2022, ZRP Eiffel Flats recorded a murder case where three brothers, Collins Muvengi, Liberty Muvengi and Fatso Muvengi, allegedly teamed up and assaulted a cousin brother, Blessing Musariri (32) all over the body with logs, on allegations of switching off a torch light at a family gathering at Gweshe, Eiffel Flats, Kadoma. The victim was initially referred to Kadoma Hospital and later to Sally Mugabe Hospital, Harare, where he succumbed to the injuries while admitted at the institution on 3rd April 2022.
In another case, Police has arrested nine (09) suspects in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Serious Mine in Chikuti on 5th April 2022, where the victim (20) had a fight with one of the suspects over a girlfriend. The suspect later sought assistance from his workmates who teamed up and went to the victim’s residence, while armed with a pistol. They attacked the victim before dragging him into their Nissan Caravan vehicle and took him to Serious Mine where they fatally assaulted him with fan belts alleging that he had robbed one of the suspects.
Meanwhile, Police are investigating circumstances surrounding a murder case in which the body of a woman (20) was found half naked, lying in a bush at Mujaji area, Siganda, Nkayi on 4th April 2022. The body had a small stick imbedded on the neck and struggle marks were noted at the crime scene
